Encourage captive power generation, says CII-TNSC

TNEB urged to facilitate extension of VAT exemption on purchase of furnace oil by industrial establishments

The Confederation of Indian Industry-Tamil Nadu State Council (CII-TNSC) on Friday urged the State Government to encourage captive power generation by the industry and also to purchase power from other sources to meet the shortage.

In a press release, CII-TNSC Chairperson Nandini Rangaswamy said that to encourage industrial units to go in for captive power generation, the State government and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) should facilitate extension of the exemption of VAT on purchase of furnace oil by industrial establishments till the enhancement of power scenario in the State.

Ms. Nandini recently called on Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) Chairman C.P. Singh.
