Elangovan wants Minister removed

March 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - CHENNAI:

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president E.V.K.S. Elangovan on Friday demanded that ‘Agri’ S.S. Krishnamoorthy should be removed from the post of Agriculture Minister till an enquiry into the suicide of an agricultural officer in Tirulnelveli is completed.

Addressing reporters here, he said Mr. Krishnamoorthy has been removed from a key AIADMK post. But this was not enough and he should be dropped from the Cabinet pending enquiry into the incident.

Mr. Elangovan said he was in possession of exhaustive phone records which indicate that the official was pressurised by associates of the Minister.

This would be submitted to the investigating authorities.

However, he reiterated that the investigation has to be transferred to the CBI.

Meanwhile, he also raised doubts on the suicide of a Health Department official in February, stating that the incident too has to be investigated.
