The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested producer S. Madhan of Vendhar Movies on Tuesday night, relating to a higher education scam.

The ED had questioned him from 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

He was produced before IV metropolitan magistrate Roseline Durai and remanded till June 6.

Madhan was arrested last November after being on the run for nearly six months. He was released on bail earlier this year.

Earlier, the Crime Branch of the Chennai City Police had booked a case against Madhan and SRM University Chancellor Pachamuthu. The case was that they accepted capitation fees from MBBS aspirants who sought admission to SRM Medical College in Kattankulathur and Chennai Medical College in Tiruchi.

The investigation also revealed that even after receipt of capitation fees, they failed to give admission or pay back the amount they received from the complainants.

An ED official said during the investigation, Madhan accepted taking money to the tune of ₹91 crore. Pachamuthu was also probed and his statement was recorded, he added.
