Beautifying will conserve the long coastline.

Beautifying will conserve the long coastline.

As announced in the Chennai Corporation budget for the year 2013-2014, Kottivakkam, Palavakkam, and Neelankarai beaches on East Coast Road would be beautified.

At present, the civic body is in talks with consultants regarding the beautification plan. Once the plan is finalised and estimates are prepared, tenders would be called for.

The development works, which will be based on a detailed project report drawn by the consultants, will include footpaths, car parking and children’s play areas. They will conform to Costal Regulation Zone specifications.

Three months ago, the civic body, as part of the clean coastline project, came up with the development plan for the Neelankarai Beach, which include laying of cement roads, provision of a parking slots, jogging track, benches, construction of a play area for children, a garden, and installation of street-lights posts.
