Ravichandran Ashwin goes on to advise voters to check whether their names are in the electoral roll in the tweet.

The Election Commission's attempts to catch the attention of the netizens to create electoral awareness seems to be bearing fruit, if one were to go by the popularity of one of its tweets on Thursday.

The Election Commission's tweet with a 28-second long video of cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin was trending big time on Thursday evening. And it read 'Dhoni or Virat? Ashwin answers'.

However, the noted cricketer appears on screen only to say that there are many other issues which are important for the country. He goes on to advice voters to check whether their names are in the electoral roll.

The tweet seems to have received wide recognition, as several hundreds have retweeted it and made it their favourite.

Commenting on the tweet, Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni said, “Our Ashwin video has gone viral. We are trending. First time an election account is trending.”
