Nearly 25 cans of drinking water were supplied to the crew of MT Pratibha Warna at the outer anchorage of Chennai Port Trust.

International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Inspector, Chennai, K. Sreekumar and Seafarer Port Welfare Committee Chairman R. Shanmugam carried the supplies with them when they met the crew members on Thursday in response to a letter sent by them to the Directorate General of Shipping on November 2, seeking drinking water, food and provisions.

Chennai Port Trust chairman Atulya Misra said the Port extended logistical support to the two-member team which went to supply water cans and was ready to provide food and provisions as and when they asked for it.

Mr. Sreekumar said that crew members of another vessel of Pratibha Shipping Company — MT Pratibha Neera — were also in the same condition as that of Pratibha Cauvery and Pratibha Warna with regard to non-payment of salaries.
