Document leak under probe, says Centre

March 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Union Home Ministry has submitted before the Madras High Court that it had ordered an enquiry into the alleged leakage of a secret document “Concerted efforts by select foreign-funded NGOs to take down Indian development projects.”

The result of the probe is awaited.

Hence, it would be premature to presume how the report was leaked.

The Home Ministry’s submission came in response to PMANE leader, S.P.Udayakumar’s petition before the court.

The petitioner alleged that the then Joint Director of Intelligence Bureau, S.A.Rizvi, had released the secret document in June last year, which was carried by newspapers.

He sought action against the official concerned.

Disposing of the petition, Justice T.S. Sivagnanam recorded the affidavit.

In the order, he said that in the light of the Ministry’s stand, it was seen that the matter was being enquired into and it was proceeding as per law.

He granted liberty to the petitioner to work out his remedy in a manner known to law.
