Doctors honoured

Dr. N. Ramakrishnan, director of Nithra Institute of Sleep Sciences

Dr. K.S. Jeyarani Kamaraj, Infertility Specialist, and Director Aakash Fertility Centre, Chennai, received the Best Doctor Award from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University for her contributions in the field of medicine. She received the award at a function organised at Guindy on September 5 from the Assembly Speaker D. Jayakumar.

Dr. Mayil Vahanan Natarajan, Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, presided over the function.

Ms. Jeyarani has co-authored various Tamil and English books on fertility, adolescent problems and marital issues. She has written a number of articles about fertility concepts in various leading English and vernacular newspapers and magazines. She has involved in rural medical service for a period of five years and served as a consultant and faculty in Institute of OBG and Madras Medical College for three years. She had been providing state-of-the-art treatment in the field of infertility for the past 18 years.

Dr. N. Ramakrishnan (a resident of Anna Nagar) received ‘Best Doctor Award’ from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University for his contributions in the field of Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He received the award at a function organised at Guindy on September 5, from the Assembly Speaker D. Jayakumar. Dr. N. Ramakrishnan is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine & Sleep Medicine and now he is serving as a Director of Critical Care Services at Apollo Hospitals.

He established Nithra Institute of Sleep Sciences, which is a comprehensive sleep center and also TACT Academy for Clinical Training, which offers simulation based healthcare training.

He has been listed in Limca Book of Records for this distinction.

It is indeed a pride that both these organisations were started in Anna Nagar.
