The World Hypertension League (WHL) has awarded Rajan Ravichandran, director of MIOT Institute of Nephrology, MIOT Hospitals, the 2014 WHL Notable Achievement in Dietary Salt Reduction.

WHL, a division of the International Society of Hypertension, has been promoting detection, control and prevention of hypertension in the population. Dr. Ravichandran, who is also the founder-chairman of Sapiens Health Foundation, has been championing the cause of low salt intake.

Through booklets, website updates and a number of activities, he has been campaigning across the country for a reduction in salt in the Indian diet, according to a press release.
