Do not allow neutrino project, Vaiko urges CM

MDMK leader Vaiko has appealed to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa not to allow the India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO), which was to come up in Theni district and not grant Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board clearance to the project.

“Determined to implement the neutrino project, Central government officials have spent several crores of rupees towards advertisements and campaign about it. I would like to bring it to the notice of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister that the officials have suppressed the fact that the project is dangerous to the State and have given their clearance to it,” Mr. Vaiko said in a statement.

The MDMK founder cited reports that files pertaining to the project from the Theni Collectorate were being sent to the TNPCB getting clearance for the project.

“The plan to set up India-based Neutrino Observatory by the Centre is against the interests of Tamil Nadu,” Mr. Vaiko said.
