DMK working president M.K. Stalin has urged Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit to dismiss P.P. Chellathurai as Vice-Chancellor of the Madurai Kamaraj University, following Madras High Court order setting aside his appointment.

In a statement in Chennai on Monday, he said the State’s Higher Education Secretary should immediately appoint a special investigation panel to probe the alleged wrongdoings during Mr. Chellathurai’s tenure.

Mr. Stalin alleged that despite the court order, the Governor had been silent on the issue giving room to doubts. He slammed the possibility of the AIADMK government filing an appeal in the Supreme Court against the High Court order, instead of dismissing Mr. Chellathurai.

Mr. Stalin urged the new search panel to be formed for the selection of Vice-Chancellor, should reject Mr. Chellathurai’s application should he apply again.

On the the Salem–Chennai green corridor project, Mr. Stalin urged the State government to listen to the views of the people patiently and wholeheartedly and not to hasten the process. He alleged that the government used to police force against the protesters. He wanted this to be stopped. Otherwise, the DMK would launch an agitation, he added.
