Social Welfare Minister B. Valarmathi distributed assistive devices to nearly 50 differently-abled children at the C.S.I School of Deaf on Monday.

Tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches for the physically challenged, hearing aids , Braille watches, sticks and spectacles for the visually impaired were given to children. “The government is willing to lend a helping hand and extend services to the eligible differently-abled persons without any bias,”Ms. Valarmathi said.

To a question regarding complaints that assistance money had not reached several differently-abled in some districts, the Minister said that eligible persons would not be left out and would receive the amounts regularly.

During the day set apart for airing grievances, the Collector would ensure that the needs of the differently-abled are fulfilled, she said.
