Diploma courses on study of palm leaf scripts

10 eligible students will be given a monthly stipend; written test on December 17

The Taramani-based World Tamil Research Foundation has launched two diploma courses on study of palm leaf manuscripts.

To encourage more students to take up the course, a monthly stipend of ₹3,000 would be provided to 10 students, who would be selected based on a written test.

The announcement about the programme was made in the budget demands for 2017-18 by the Tamil Development Department.

Aspirants who wish to pursue research can also apply for a stipend. Candidates would have to clear a written test to be held on December 17 for the same.

Admission fee

The admission fee for the course is ₹2,000 and to be eligible for the course candidates should have a basic degree. There is no age limit for admission. The last date for applying is December 12, according to the press release.
