Diamond Jubilee celebration of Madras School of Social Work was inaugurated by K. Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu. P. Palaniappan, Minister for Higher Education, gave the special address and released the first copy of a book ‘MSSW History Volume 2’. Governor Rosaiah released a special postal cover, Diamond Jubilee Souvenir and MSSW Journal Special Volume on ‘Youth and Development’.
During his inaugural address, he mentioned about the tireless effort of the founder of this institution, Ms. Mary Clubwala Jadhav, in establishing the institution.
He recalled a Sanskrit quote and said “a student learns one quarter from his master, one quarter on his own, one quarter from his peer and one quarter from time and his own experience”. He also said that this temple of learning instituted an award to recognise and appreciate organisations working for the society.
Special postal cover to mark the Diamond Jubilee of MSSW was received by Smt. Shanthi Nari, Chief Post Master General, Tamil Nadu Circle, Souvenir was received by Dr. G. Viswanathan, founder-Chancellor, VIT University.
MSSW Journal Special Volume was received by Prof. K.N. George, former Director, MSSW.
C.D. Jose, president, Society for Social Education and Research (SSER) and (MSSW), gave the welcome address.
The diamond-jubilee theme address was given by Dr. Fatima Vasanth, principal-cum-secretary, Madras School of Social Work. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. A. Loyala, secretary, SSER.
