Chennai has always been special to me and the people are what makes it the place it is. I am a huge fan of the biriyani here and the filter coffee as well, said Indian cricketer and ODI captain M.S. Dhoni.

In the city to promote the upcoming biopic M.S. Dhoni: An Untold Story in which Sushant Singh Rajput plays him, he said, “It was a different experience for me, to talk in detail about my past and I enjoyed revisiting my initial cricketing days for the movie.”

Actor Suriya and Jyothika’s children Diya and Dev gave flowers to the cricketer and interacted with him on stage at the event.

The Tamil trailer of the movie and a few songs were screened following which singer S.P. Charan rendered Ulagam Engum Dhoni , a single from the film.

A dubbed version of the movie in Tamil, is all set to be released in Tamil Nadu on September 30 alongside the original Hindi version.

“As actors, we strive not to simply imitate people but to transform into the person we are playing and I think I’ve been able to bring Dhoni’s persona onscreen. As part of my research, I came here to see Dhoni play for Chennai Super Kings as I know how important his connect with CSK and Chennai is,” Sushant said.

Dhoni, a self-confessed Rajnikanth fan, mouthed one of the actor’s most famous dialogues En Vazhi Thani Vazhi and said that he was excited about meeting the actor.

After the event, he and Mr. Rajput met Rajinikanth at his home and interacted with him.

A short live video of the meeting was shared by Dhoni on his Facebook page.
