Defence PRO dead

The Public Relations Officer for the Defence Ministry in Chennai, N. Andavan (53), passed away on Wednesday in a private hospital here.

He was being treated for serious head injuries suffered in a road accident. He was hit by an auto- rickshaw and a two-wheeler on Monday evening when he attempted to cross the road in Kilpauk. He is survived by his wife, son and a daughter. He had also held various portfolios in the Doordarshan, All India Radio, Directorate of Visual Publicity and Press Information Bureau.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Defence Secretary R.K. Mathur and Director General (Media and Communication) Sitanshu Kar offered their condolences.
