Decision on contingency plan for dam on hold

The decision of the National Disaster Management Authority to form a team of experts for preparing a contingency response plan for the Mullaperiyar dam has been kept in abeyance.

The decision will be in force till the Empowered Committee completes its work.

A communication to this effect was received by the State Public Works Department on Monday.

Letter to Prime Minister

Last week, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, expressing her protest against the move to form a team of experts.
