Saroja Kamakshi – mother of renowned Bharatanatyam exponent Malavika Sarukkai and poet Priya Sarukkai Chabria – passed away here on Monday.

Ms. Saroja Kamakshi, a writer and teacher, collaborated with her dancer-daughter, giving rich creative inputs to the conceptualisation and presentation of her shows.

Friends and associates remember her as a broad-minded and warm person, who lived life with rare conviction and grace.

She was drawn to Vedanta and spent hours engaging with the philosophy.

Ms. Saroja Kamakshi is survived by her two daughters, and son-in-law Suresh Chabria.
