After over 25 weeks of training programme that included 200 hours of flying, the 138th Qualified Flying Instructors Course came to an end at the Flying Instructors’ School in Indian Air Force Station in Tambaram on Friday.
Qualified instructors
The course makes the participants as ‘qualified flying instructors,’ making them eligible to guide trainee pilots, an official release said.
Air Marshal Ramesh Rai, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, stressed the invaluable role played by FIS in training the instructors who are instrumental in producing pilots to meet the desired standards of the Indian Air Force.
He urged them to inculcate the highest standards of mental and physical discipline amongst their trainees. Group Captain Nikhilesh Gautam, Commanding Officer of FIS, under whose supervision the training was done, summed up the achievements of the course.
The FIS in the Air Force Station, Tambaram, has established a special niche for itself in the field of aviation training for more than 60 years. Professional pilots from several friendly foreign countries have also undergone rigorous training here.
