Counselling sessions postponed

As a mark of respect to former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the State government has declared Thursday as a public holiday for all educational institutions and all government and private establishments.

It also decided to close all the Tasmac shops and bars attached to them throughout the State on Thursday. It also ordered the closure of the licensed premises across the State as a mark of respect to the former President.

Counselling for various academic courses and government posts that were to be conducted on Thursday have also been postponed.

Anna University has rescheduled its MCA counselling to be held on Thursday to Friday. Counselling scheduled for Friday will be held on Saturday, according to a release. The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions has also rescheduled counselling for the vocational stream to be held on Thursday to Friday. Candidates have been allotted the same time slots, however, officials said.

The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University has postponed its second round of counselling for the five-year BA LLB course offered in its affiliated colleges to Monday, August 3.

The Adi Dravidar Welfare Department has informed that counselling for teachers seeking transfer scheduled for Thursday had been postponed to Friday. Counselling will be held at the respective Adi Dravidar Welfare Department offices only for those posts for which online registration had been permitted.

Counselling for transfers for medical officers from the directorates of medical and rural services, public health and preventive medicine, post graduate higher speciality service and non service have been rescheduled for Friday.

All educational institutions, including Adi Dravidar Schools and companies under the labour directorate will also not function on Thursday.
