Chennai Corporation school students registered an overall pass percentage of 88.7%, marking an increase of 2.5% from last year.
As many as 5,700 of the 6,423 students in 32 schools cleared the Plus Two exams with girls recording a pass percentage of 94.1 and boys 80.8.
Two schools — one on Perambur Market Street and the other in CIT Nagar — registered a pass percentage of 100. As many as 119 students secured 200 out of 200 this year. Last year, the number was 51.
A total of 136 students secured more than 1100 marks this year while 524 students scored more than 1,000.
Municipal Administration Minister S.P.Velumani distributed cash awards to the principals of schools that recorded 100% pass percentage in the presence of MAWS Secretary Harmander Singh, Corporation Commissioner D. Karthikeyan and Deputy Commissioner (Education) Mantri Govinda Rao.
Chennai Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School in Saidapet secured the lowest pass percentage of 53.1. Civic officials said the school is located in an area frequently affected by natural disasters. Last year too, the school recorded a poor pass percentage.
However, the Chennai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in Saidapet has registered a pass percentage of 96.9.
As many as 42 boys and 50 girls registered on the rolls did not appear for the examination.
