A Corporation engineer who was allegedly beaten up by a councillor last Tuesday has withdrawn his complaint.
The Chennai Corporation’s executive engineer, L. Kannan of Tiruvottiyur zone, was allegedly beaten up by councillor Suriya Babu of ward 10 on Tuesday. The councillor was angry because the engineer said he needed more time to send an earth mover to Babu’s ward to clear debris.
The councillor allegedly entered Kannan’s office and assaulted him. He has reportedly been advised by Mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy to refrain from such behaviour in the future.
