Many students in engineering colleges are unable to cope, educationists say, suggesting that this problem can be remedied by focussing more on school education, and modifying the syllabus.
“As many as 40 per cent of students who are studying in Anna University are unable to pass their first semester examinations. One of the main reasons for this is the quality of school education,” said D. Viswanathan, convenor of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and former-vice chancellor of Anna University, addressing the press recently, ahead of the FICCI School Education Conference 2015 to be held in Chennai on January 31.
