Concrete mixture poured on top of a pillar being constructed as part of a road overbridge project near Vandalur railway station fell on Saturday evening. No one was hurt, but it caused anxious moments as the mixture was not far from the main line on the Tambaram-Chengalpattu sector.

The ROB is being constructed to replace the railway level crossing. Work was on to complete the side support of one the pillars and as the cement concrete mixture was being poured, the supporting scaffolding gave away and the mixture fell on the ground, said officials of the State Highways Department said.

This did not amount to a lapse and that the work would be completed on Sunday morning. No one was hurt and train services were unaffected, they added.
