Commuters find the location of MTC bus stop at Rajakilpakkam to be unsafe, as it is close to the intersection of Velachery Main Road and Madambakkam Main Road.
Motorists do not bother to slow down while turning left and proceeding towards Camp Road, say commuters. They have also complained about the lack of a bus shelter.
The halting point is meant for buses going towards Chromepet and East Tambaram. Commuters pointed out that only route numbers 51G (East Tambaram – Medavakkam Road Junction, East Tambaram – Vengaivasal) and S3 ( Chromepet – Madambakkam) halt there. Commuters want all the other route numbers — B51, 5A, 51, A51, 95, M11 and 99 — that ply through Velachery Main Road to halt at the stop.
“Due to these problems, many commuters choose to go to Kamarajapuram or Mahalakshmi Nagar bus stop which are quite a distance away,” says B. Krishnan, a resident of Madambakkam. When contacted, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation officials promised to do the needful.
