Committee pitches for more disabled-friendly coaches

The rail users’ consultative committee has called for more passenger amenities and improved hygiene at railway stations as well as more disabled-friendly coaches.

The 138th Divisional Rail Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting of Chennai division, Southern Railway, was chaired by its divisional railway manager, P.K. Mishra.

S. Mohan Ram, who is also a member of DRUCC, spoke about the requirements of passenger amenities at various stations.

S. Manjula, a nominee from the Physically Challenged Association, Vellore, requested additional disabled coaches in trains. K. Aranganathan, MP’s nominee sought additional services between Chennai Beach and Kancheepuram.

Mr. Mishra assured the members that action would be initiated regarding the demands put forth by the members.
