A MTC bus was damaged by a group of students of a private arts and science college near a bus terminus in Vallalar Nagar at Washermenpet on Monday.

The police said the MTC bus (route number 6D, between Pattinambakkam and Toll Gate in Washermenpet) was coming from Pattinambakkam towards the bus terminus in Vallalar Nagar at around 2.30 p.m. on Monday, when a group of students threw stones on the bus.

The students from Pachaiyappa’s College threw the stones to hurt a group of students from Presidency College who were travelling in the bus, the police said.

The stones damaged the rear glass panel of the bus. The students then fled the scene.

Immediately, the bus driver, Amid Hussain, stopped the bus and alerted the police.

Based on a complaint filed by Hussain, a case has been registered by the Washermenpet police.

Meanwhile, passengers in the bus were allowed to travel in another MTC bus on the same bus ticket.
