College correspondent seeks CBI probe into death of 3 girls

The correspondent of S.V.S. Medical College of Yoga and Naturopathy, S. Vasuki, has demanded that the case pertaining to the death of three girl students of the college be moved to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The three students of the college, situated in Kallakurichi of Villupuram district, were found dead in a well in a plot adjoining the college, two days after they had left home. The CB-CID is investigating the case.

At a press conference here she said the students had at no point indicated that they had problems with paying the fees. “The fees were not due till September and I was paying even the examination fee of Priyanka, whose father had died of liver failure due to alcoholism,” said Ms. Vasuki, who is on bail.

“The police did not question why the students chose to commit suicide in a well in an adjoining plot when there were four or five wells in our college,” she said alleging that it was an indication that they had been murdered.

Alleging land grab by plot owners on either side of the college, she said she was harassed by government officials, police and land sharks. She received threats to her life from hirelings if she did not go for a compromise with land grabbers.
