Coast Guard divers rescue man on Marina

A resident of Nungambakkam, he is suffering from mental illness

Two divers of the Coast Guard on Saturday evening rescued a man, who was caught in the waves on Marina after he entered the sea for a swim.

Coast Guard sources identified the man as Raju (31) of Nungambakkam who is suffering from mental illness. He got into the water around 5 p.m. and was struggling to breathe.

People on the sand informed the police, who alerted the Coast Guard.

Uttam Adikari Tokas and D. Kumar, divers of the Coast Guard, rushed to the spot and entered the water. They rescued Raju and brought him to the shore. He is in good health and was reunited with his family members, sources said.
