: Admitted to Apollo Hospitals late Thursday night with fever and dehydration, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa continues to be under observation there. Hospital sources said she was stable.
According to a hospital bulletin on Friday afternoon, the Chief Minister was admitted in the hospital on Thursday night for fever and dehydration.
“Honorable Madam has no fever now and is taking a normal diet,” said Subbiah Viswanthan, chief operating officer, Apollo. In the bulletin, he added that she was still under observation.
Learning of her hospitalisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Vidyasagar Rao, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and even her arch political rivals M. Karunanidhi and his son M.K. Stalin, the opposition leader, all wished her speedy recovery.
Mr. Modi sent a bouquet of flowers and a letter wishing her speedy recovery. Thanking him for the kind gesture, she, in her reply, expressed gratitude for his concern and good wishes.
The Governor, in his letter, said that it was worrying to learn that she was indisposed and hospitalised due to fever.
“My best wishes. People’s prayers and blessings are always with you,” he said, wishing her speedy recovery. Ms. Jayalalithaa thanked him also for the concern and kind sentiments.
Karunanidhi’s message
In a rare gesture going beyond politics, DMK president M. Karunanidhi wished the Chief Minister a speedy recovery. “I may have ideological differences with the Chief Minister but I wish her speedy recovery so that she can continue her work,” he tweeted with a black and white picture of her taking oath in the Assembly with him watching the proceedings in the background. An hour later, his son M.K. Stalin, in his capacity as the opposition leader, wished her complete recovery enabling her to continue with her administrative duties.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also tweeted wishing her speedy recovery.
A host of other leaders , including TNCC president Su. Thirunavukkarasar, spokesperson Kushboo, VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan, MDMK general secretary Vaiko, TMC president G.K. Vasan, DMDK founder Vijayakant and PMK leader S. Ramadoss, have also wished the Chief Minister speedy recovery.
