A array of colourful pots of all possible shapes has been strategically displayed at The Pot Shop in Indira Nagar, Adyar. The store offers a good collection of pots made from ceramic, wood, metal, fibre and plastic.

Besides the pots on display, customers also have the option of ordering customised pots.

When the venture was started a year ago, The Pot Shop concentrated on designing only pots, but later expanded its business and started bringing in saplings of indoor plants and gardening products such as pot stands, different types of organic manure and decorative items that enhance the look of terrace and home gardens.

“I started this venture out of a passion for gardening. But I have developed considerable knowledge about the subject due to my customers who keep educating me at every stage. We have come a long way. Now, we take bulk orders for wedding return gifts and pots with engraved logos for schools. Awareness among people about how essential greening exercises are has gone up. Clearly, as a result of this, many wish to have small gardens or a few pots at home,” says 36-year-old Steephen Jayaraj, owner of The Pot Shop.

For Valentine’s Day, The Pot Shop received many customers who purchased saplings in custom-made pots with ceramic figurines, as gifts, instead of the conventional bouquets, said Steephen.

“We also give an opportunity for customers to showcase their creativity by displaying some of their products at the store. Stone carvings designed by one of our customers were put up for sale and they had a good response,” he added.
