Radhatri Nethralaya conducted a Deepalvali workshop on “first aid following cracker injuries to the eye” at T. Nagar, on November 8. Around 52 students and 25 teachers from 23 schools in Chennai participated.

Dr. Vasumathy Vedantham, Medical Director, Radhatri Nethralaya, told students about the simple first aid measures that can be practiced at home in case of injury.

Children from four schools jointly enacted a skit on cracker injuries to the eye and on what first aid measures should be adopted.

All the participating students received certificates and sample first aid kits from the chief guest, Bholanath, Director of Fire and Rescue Services, and Dr. Raghavan, Retired Emeritus professor, IIT. A total of 10,000 pamphlets illustrating the first aid measures were also given to the students for distribution in their respective schools.

Dr. Raghavan also donated a sum of Rs. 1 lakh to Gurupriya Vision Research Foundation, the charitable arm of Radhatri Nethralaya, for its project RAYS: Radhatri Nethralaya Sight Saving project for the Young.
