The Greater Chennai Corporation has relaid City Link Road in Guindy.

This action follows a report — titled ‘Key link road in Guindy in a shambles’ — in the Velachery edition of The Hindu Down Town , dated July 28, 2017.

The stretch was dug up this May for laying drinking water pipes by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board from City Link Road to Kakkan Bridge in Adambakkam. Though CMWSSB work was completed during the second week of June, the road was not relaid till the first week of August.

The stretch connects St. Thomas Mount and West Velachery.

According to residents of Maduvankarai, the road has been relaid, but is yet to be widened. Before widening work is undertaken, encroachments in the form of shops, houses and unauthorised parking slots have to be removed. They point out that even the pavements have not been spared and pedestrians walk in the carriageway.

The newly-laid road has to be provided with speed-breakers.

When contacted, an official of Zone 13 of Greater Chennai Corporation said the needful would be done.
