The Central Industrial Security Force personnel, Yadhav (42) of Uttar Pradesh, posted for security duty at Rajiv Gandhi Memorial, Sriperumpudur, has reportedly committed suicide in the memorial campus on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident took place at around 2-15 p.m. when the deceased reportedly aggrieved over denial of leave to visit his family at the native place, shot himself using the gun provided to him for executing the security duty at the campus.

He was rushed to the nearby Arignar Anna Government Taluk hospital, where he was declared dead. The Sriperumpudur police have registered a case and are investigating.

The security of the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial was handed over to the CISF in 2010 after the then Union Government decided to accord the same status to the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial at Sriperumpudur as that of 9 memorials of national leaders situated in New Delhi for purposes of security.
