A 19-member Chinese delegation, comprising teachers and officials of the Education department from different parts of the neighbouring country, had a one-hour-long meeting with the School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu on Monday in the city.
The Minister and officials dealing with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), a special intervention being implemented for universalisation of elementary education, briefed the delegation of the status of the SSA in the State. The members of the team, who visited a school in Raja Annamalaipuram here, were impressed with the component of teaching mathematics. They also observed that students interacted freely with teachers, the Minister later told The Hindu .
The delegation would visit other parts of the State including Madurai and Coimbatore, he said.
