Chennai student drowns in school pool

A fourth standard student of Padma Seshadri Bal Bhavan school in KK Nagar drowned in the school pool on Thursday morning during swimming lessons.

Preliminary reports said Ranjan (10) dived into the water and became unconscious. Police said the accident took place at around 9.30 a.m. when the victim, a resident of Alwarthirunagar, was attending the swimming period. Trainers at the scene rescued the boy from the pool and rushed him to Vijaya Hospital but he died on the way. A police investigation is underway.
