Chennai man murders wife, stabs her boyfriend

The latter is stable at Govt. Kilpauk Hospital; 32-year-old suspect later surrendered to Koyambedu police

A 32-year-old man strangled his wife and stabbed her boyfriend on Monday.

The Koyambedu police identified the woman as Suganthi (27), who was residing on Shanta Avenue in Nerkundram along with her husband Sudhakar, an employee of a petrol bunk in Manali, and their two children. Sudhakar’s friend, Ilangovan (32), used to frequently visit the former’s residence, and started a relationship with Suganthi.

On Monday morning, the couple argued over Suganthi’s relationship with Ilangovan. Sudhakar then strangled Suganthi with a nylon rope He then took a kitchen knife and rushed to Illangovan’s house on Ani Street, Koyambedu, around noon and stabbed him on the neck and abdomen. Sudhakar later surrendered to the Koyambedu police.

Neighbours rushed Ilangovan to Government Kilpauk Hospital. His condition is stable, the police said.
