Chennai doc gets award

Chairman and chief diabetologist of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre and president of Madras Diabetes Research Foundation V. Mohan, has received the Diabetes Technology Society Leadership Award from the Diabetes Technology Society, San Francisco for his contributions to diabetes research.

A press release said that Dr. Mohan was the first Indian recipient of the award. Dr. Mohan has published over 800 research papers including 132 chapters for text books.

His work on genomics of diabetes and epidemiology of diabetes has been recognised internationally. He has also taken up outreach work by providing therapeutic and preventive healthcare services to a population of 50,000 persons in 42 villages in Kancheepuram district.
