Police have initiated a probe into the alleged physical abuse of a teenage schoolgirl by a sub-inspector (SI) of police in Selaiyur on Tuesday.

Police said the SI, who is with the Selaiyur police station, had allegedly abused the girl at his rented room in Bhavani Nagar.

On Tuesday evening, the girl did not turn up at her tuition class. The tuition master contacted the girl’s mother, who began searching for her daughter, who was reportedly found inside the SI’s home. Following a complaint from the mother that her daughter had been abused, a case was registered.
