Chennaiites have always treasured cinema close to their heart. And their love for the silver screen has been rewarded with a swanky new multiplex – ‘Luxe’ – that was inaugurated by Governor K. Rosaiah in Phoenix Mall in Velachery on Monday.

With 11 screens and a seating capacity of over 2,600, the multiplex stands out from the rest, not only in terms of capacity, but also comfort and opulence.

Chandeliers on high ceilings and marble flooring welcome customers who walk into the lobby. The halls are equipped with the latest in sound technology.

There are five ticket counters and the tickets are priced Rs. 120. “We wanted to provide a different experience to customers at the same ticket price. Interiors can make the difference and much care has gone into ensuring that it gives that rich look,” said Preetha Ramaswamy of SPI cinemas.

A pillar with 72 video panels at the centre of the lobby is the star attraction. “There are 16 food counters. Even in the concession area, the interiors are posh. There is also a spa, a restaurant offering different cuisines and a gaming zone. A retail store will also open soon,” she said.

On the first day, the shows started at noon. “All the four shows were houseful,” she added. Luxe is located on the 2 floor of Phoenix Mall.

Customers can purchase tickets at the venue between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., over the phone by calling 4224 4224 or online at www.spicinemas.in.
