Tamil Nadu Open University will soon be launching 12 new skill development courses through their community colleges that will integrate e-learning, contact classes and textbook learning into their syllabus.
The curriculum for these courses is being developed with the help of the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) during a three-day workshop that started here on Monday.
During the workshop, members of the Skill Development Council and the Sector Skill Development Council will interact with experts from the various fields. They will focus on the six sectors of agriculture, automobiles, paramedical, fashion design, engineering and computer science, and come up with curriculum for the 12 trades that will later be used as a national guideline, head of administration of CEMCA, R. Thyagarajan, said.
The idea is to be able to provide skills that will later generate employment for students. They will be adopting a flexible curriculum that will integrate textbook learning, online learning, multimedia learning and face-to-face education.
The curriculum will be based on the National Skills Qualifications Framework, vice-chancellor, TNOU, Chandrakantha Jeyabalan said.
