Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam treasurer M.K. Stalin on Monday visited the family members of Major Mukund Varadharajan, who was killed during an encounter with terrorists in the Shopian area of Kashmir last month.

Mr. Stalin met them at their East Tambaram residence and offered his condolences to Mukund’s father R. Varadharajan, mother Geetha Varadharajan and wife Indhu.

In a brief chat with the media, Mr. Stalin recalled the supreme sacrifice by Major Mukund as unforgettable and said he had offered his condolences on behalf of DMK’s president M. Karunanidhi and party cadre.

He recalled that the loss to the family of Major Mukund Varadharajan is irreparable and no words could give them a consolation.

“I respect his sacrifice to the country and offer my salute,” Mr. Stalin said.
