RSS men protest attack on member

November 27, 2014 08:24 am | Updated 08:24 am IST - CHENNAI:

A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member was assaulted by unidentified men on Wednesday.

He has been hospitalised and is reported to be stable. The incident took place around 12.30 p.m., on Bangaru Naicken Street, when Raj Kumar (35), travelling on a motorcycle, was intercepted by some men and attacked with iron rods. He managed to run away and hide in a nearby house, while his assailants fled. On information, RSS and Hindu Munnani members attempted to block Bells Road, but policemen reached the spot and pacified them.

The police said that Kumar had recently taken up the cause of a woman, a victim of sexual harassment by a youth in Triplicane. The police suspect the role of some supporters of the Triplicane youth in the attack case.
