Piped water supply to areas in north and southern parts of the city may be disrupted from January 5 to 7, as Chennai Metrowater plans to take up maintenance work at the Alandur water distribution station and Minjur desalination plant.
Further, Chennai Metro Rail limited has also proposed to interconnect a new water pipeline with the existing mains near the OTA on GST Road.
Localities such as Alandur, Adambakkam, Pazhavanthangal, Anagaputhur, Pozhichalur and Nanganallur may not get piped water supply between 9 a.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. on Wednesday, a press release said. Residents are advised to store water in advance and contact officials (head office (complaint cell) 28454040, 45674567; junior engineer/tanker lorry 8144930315; assistant engineer/Alandur WDS 8144930365) for tanker water supply.
Similarly, residents of Madhavaram, Manali, Tiruvottiyur, Kathivakkam, Ernavoor and Vysarpadi may receive decreased water supply as the desalination plant in Minjur will be shut down for maintenance from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on January 6.
