About 300 students have been filtered and selected for a diploma course in hospitality, as part of a MoU signed by Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management, in the city, and Sheffield College, Australia.

The students will be studying the first two years of the three-year course at the Chennai campus of the institute and will complete the course on the campus of Sheffield College.

R. Boominathan, CEO, Amrita International Institute, said, “The students will be undergoing a ‘learn-while-earn’ programme while they are in Australia. They will spend mornings attending classes and they will work in the various hotels that Sheffield College has tied up with, during the afternoons and evenings. They will be given a stipend.”

At a press conference in the city on Tuesday, Daljit Monga, group CEO of Sheffield College, said, “Leaning to manage a difficult client is a very important aspect of hospitality management, and we are happy to tie up with Amirta to provide world-class training to its students.”
