The Madras High Court has issued notice to the Central government on a writ petition filed by a Chennai resident, seeking a direction to the authorities to trace her husband who went missing in Malaysia in 2012.

Justice B. Rajendran issued two weeks notice to the external affairs ministry, the Malaysian High Commission in Delhi and three others on a petition filed by Nungambakkam resident Theivanai, wife of N. Nallathambi who went missing in Malaysia in October 2012. She said that her husband had gone to Malaysia on a tourist visa to visit his friend, Syed Mohamed, who was running a hotel.

Several letters had been filed and complaints made to the authorities. There had been no news of her husband and she and her family were worried about him, the petitioner said.
