Renowned film artiste Y. Gee. Mahendra and former national table tennis champion V. Chandrasekar (employed with State Bank of India) are coming together  to raise funds for the latter’s project – building an ultra-modern  indoor sports complex at  Mogappair Eri Scheme, on land given by Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.

The proposed sports complex is half-complete, according to the table tennis star. “We have raised 60 per cent of funds required.  Medimix, Velammal and India Pistons have been helping us to make our vision a reality. However, there is still a shortfall and my good friend Mr. Y. Gee. Mahendra has come forward to help us by agreeing to stage a play.  The proposed play (‘Irandam Ragasiyam’, to be staged on July 6 at 6.30 p.m. at Rama Rao Kala Mandapam, T. Nagar, will help us to raise approximately Rs.5 lakhs,” said a statement from Mr. Chandrasekar.

Those who wish to contribute directly may pay by cheque/donation, or do so by depositing the amount in the Canara Bank A/c. Chandras Table Tennis Trust. Donors may avail tax exemption (80G). For tickets for the play and donations, please contact: 9840074131, 9444717281.
