CEG alumni pledge to facilitate recruitment

Alumni need to help in recruiting graduates of their alma mater, participants at the second global alumni meet of College of Engineering, Guindy, said on Sunday.

Several former students emphasised the need for better networking to improve recruitment. Many companies are in talks with CEG for placing students. N Krishnakumar, CEO of Mindtree, said: “we are collaborating with the university to recruit more students this year.”

They also spoke of the need to step up innovations and entrepreneurial ideas from the college. Saravanan Nattanmai, investment professional, Nereus Capital said, “If 5 to 10 per cent of graduates decide to take up entrepreneurial ventures, they will be able to provide job opportunities in the future”.

Speaking of potential start-up ideas, Manick Rajendran, founder of iMMi Life, a heart attack advisor, said there was a need for more engineers in the healthcare line. B. Ashok, chairman, Indian Oil Corporation, added that there were huge opportunities in the energy sector.

Durgaprasad, co-founder and CEO of Bahwan Cyber Tek, said that he would work with the alumni association to improve inter-alumnus connect and help build a platform for them to network better. Manikandan Thangarathnam, Director, Kindle Devices at Amazon, said: “Through networking, it is possible for alumni to help strengthen their careers”.

The second edition of the College of Engineering, Guindy – Global Alumni Meet (CEGAM) featured knowledge sharing sessions and panel discussions with over 900 alumni registrations from across the globe.
