Bengaluru blast victim from Chennai

Bhavani Devi, the 38-year-old woman who succumbed to injuries in Sunday’s Bengaluru blast, was a resident of Border Thottam, Triplicane.

She is survived by her husband, Balan, and two children. It is learnt that Balan, who owns a tyre shop behind LIC, is on his way to Bengaluru. Other details are awaited.

City on alert

A high-security alert has been sounded in Chennai. Security has been stepped up at important public places, including Chennai Central and Egmore railway stations.

Additional police personnel have been deployed and vehicle checks are being carried out.

The director-general of police has issued orders for stepping up security in other parts of the State too.
