June 18, 2014 10:48 am | Updated 10:48 am IST - CHENNAI:

Many Aavin milk card holders in the city have been unable to get additional cards with the milk producer suspending issuing of new cards.

R. Sridharan, a resident of Kodambakkam, said that it was difficult for him to get an extra packet of milk. “The vendor at our booth told me that new cards will not be issued for now,” he said.

Consumer activist T. Sadagopan said there was no official communication from the government about the stoppage.

Sources in Aavin said that preference was being given to persons being transferred to Chennai.
